I got an email this morning from the Art of the Car Concours, a local event here in Kansas City.

“In 2016, the Concours’ Special Exhibitor vehicles will be “Total Performance — Powered by Ford”. This will celebrate Ford’s “Total Performance” promotional program of the 1960’s and the 50 th Anniversary of Ford’s 1-2-3 victory at the Le Mans 24-Hour Endurance Race in 1966, which was a notable result. The program also saw Ford-powered cars win the Indianapolis 500, Grand Prix Drivers and Manufacturers’ World Championships, numerous NASCAR races, Sports Car Club of American National Championships, and top-level drag races. Next summer, Ford will return to Le Mans with a competition version of its 2017 Ford GT. We will showcase historically significant Ford cars such as the original GT40 Mk I and Mk II, a GT40 Mk IV, various Shelby Cobras, a Cobra Daytona coupe, Shelby Mustangs, and other Ford-powered race cars. We also hope to have one of the 2017 Ford GT production cars. Ford-powered race cars from other eras will also be displayed.”

It’s a fantastic event. The first year I went I was expecting a nice car show. This is only Kansas City, after all. And then I saw Stirling Moss’ Masterati Birdcage and the N.A.R.T. Ferrari 250, and that was that. 2014 was no slouch, either. And this year’s was every bit as awesome. It’s definitely worth the trip.

Oh yes. This will be my 4th year going. It’s phenomenal. I’ve seen cars in my hometown I didn’t think I’d ever see anywhere. Are you in KC?

The winter meets obviously aren’t as well attended, but I think we had about 200 cars one day this summer. The group’s growing quick.
